Gainesville's Hidden Treasures

Whether you are a seasoned veteran of the city of Gainesville or brand new to the game,  we would like to highlight a few must hit places that people may miss out on or just not be aware of. We call these…GAINESVILLE’S HIDDEN TREASURES

1.)Lollicup

Located on 3550 SW 34th Street across from the Kangaroo,

Lollicup is a supplier of blended beverages, coffee, and tea. What really sets Lollicup apart from the rest is it’s the wide selection of smoothies with jellies in it, they are truly WET (check the centaur dictionary). Each sip of the smoothie comes with a jelly surprise. My personal favorite is the green apple smoothie with the green apple jellies, I like to keep it consistent. There is a real nice environment as well, complete with board games and music. You can’t go wrong with a fresh smoothie and a quick game of connect four. There’s only 5 Lollicup establishments in Florida, so if this place is new to you…DON’T SLEEP ON IT!!!

2.)La Tienda Latina Mexican Restaurant

I’m a man that likes my food like my women…..hot, spicy, AND WITH A BIG BOOTY!!!!(j/k) But for all those Mexican food fans, you all may have been distraught by the news that the “On The Boarder” restaurant on Archer Rd was shut down; However, you can rest assured that there is a better place to fill your Mexican food void—--La Tienda Latina Mexican Restaurant (2204 SW 13th St). This place truly HITS. In order to find it you need a sharp eye. It’s located between a closed strip club and a closed waffle house (I know, Random). The special aspect about this place is that they serve AUTHENTIC Mexican food, something you cant say about places like On The Boarder, but OTB is still that piff. The sodas are also original and zesty (No “Spectacular”). This is definitely a must visit.

3.)Relish Burger!!!

We will need a moment of silence for this place right here....................RELISH BURGER!!!! This is the ONLY place, the ONLY PLACE, where you will find the realest burgers on the planet. Relish Buger is located on University Avenue alongside PitaPit. This is a specialty store where mostly burgers are sold. The meat is cooked right in front of you and you choose from a selection of visible sides to add on. The meat is what sets this place apart. In the words of Kyle from college hill "Dey juicy, dey tenda, dey fallin off da boneee."

The only negative thing I can say about Relish Burger is the price, it will truly murk you.

4.)Hibbett Sports

Located on Archer Road, Hibbett is a good supplier for your sneaker and sporting good needs. If your looking for Quick Strike dunks or something like that, this isn’t the place (Chillout all you HypeBeasts lol). This is a nice place for your basic essentials at a nice price such as forces, vandals, hyperflights etc. Hibbett will keep you fly without murking off your pockets.

5.)Target

I know people may be scratching their heads thinking “how is Target a hidden treasure?” Its not really the store that’s the hidden treasure, it’s what’s in the store.

For all those that are into the white t’s (a.ka. weezy tees), you may like spending the $20+ for the official—double woven white shirts. But for those rainy days, I suggest you go to target and get you the Haines Joints with the lay flat collar. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE LAY FLAT COLLAR!!! Once again, keep you looking fresh without murking your pockets.

These are just a few Hidden Treasures found right here in Gainesville by your neighborhood OWtlaws...Let us know some of your own hidden treasures in the comments...

  1. Aye yall should not sleep on Hell's Kitchen! Its by Jefferson's Apts and the food is delicious. Plus its open late...sometimes till 4am! My recommendation is that "CRACK" chicken! I referred Kerv, Champ, Chaud & Kevin to the hole-in-the-wall food joint and they'll gladly share their testimonies.

after a visit to Hells Kitchen, I gotta give it a C+. The french fries are fire, but the crack chicken isnt what I expected. Back in Miami, crack chicken is more like fried chicken wings. At hells kitchen its more like chopped chicken breast with some weird sauce on it. For atmosphere I gotta give it a D. Its right near a corner where girls are turning tricks!!!!

  3. C+?!! travesty, maybe it didn't do it for you. Definitely did mention its a hole-in-the-wall joint so if you were looking for for great ambiance, not it. Not too many options after 2am in the Ville and I've neva seen the girls turning tricks on any corner but it I'll take your word for it. Hell's Kitchen will indelible stay in my mind as a Gainesville exclusive, It's worth a try.
